Darryl Matson joined Buckland & Taylor Ltd. in 1989 after graduating top of his class at university and is presently one of two Vice Presidents of the firm. He is registered as a Professional Engineer in California, British Columbia and other jurisdictions.
He worked on the erection engineering to launch the 734 m (half-mile) long Peace River Bridge, and was site engineer for the upgrading of Hagwilget Bridge.
From 1999-2002, he was the Project Manager for final design and the Owner's Bridge Engineer during construction for the Lions' Gate Suspension Bridge. This involved the complete replacement of the suspended structure while maintaining daily traffic. It also included seismic retrofit. Construction was completed in 2002.
He has undertaken many of the Company's seismic retrofit projects in California and on the west coast of BC. These projects include Cold Spring Canyon which won awards from the Consulting Engineers and Land Surveyors of California (CELSOC) and the American Consulting Engineers Council (ACEC).
