JORGE TORREJON,
M.Sc., P.Eng., PE
Jorge obtained his B.S. in Civil Engineering at the Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria in Lima, Peru. He then came to North America on a Fullbright Scholarship from the US State Department and obtained his M.S. in Civil Engineering at West Virginia University. In 1981, he joined Buckland & Taylor Ltd. after having worked with several other engineering firms in Peru, the US and Canada.
In September 2001, Jorge succeeded Peter Buckland as President of Buckland & Taylor Ltd.
Jorge has a wealth of bridge engineering expertise developed over the past 37 years. His design and construction experience includes over 100 bridges and covers all aspects of bridge engineering.
He was Project Manager for the design of the 300 m (984 ft.) main span Rama 8 cable-stayed bridge in Bangkok, Thailand and represented the Company in the Joint Venture headed by China State Construction & Engineering Co. and in all negotiations with the client. This project won the 2003 Eugene Figg Medal and the 2003 Consulting Engineers of British Columbia (CEBC) Award.
He led the design check for the 13 km (8 mile) long prestressed concrete box girder Confederation Bridge with 43 spans of 250 m (820 ft.).
