Buckland & Taylor Ltd. is the proud recipient of the Gustav Lindenthal Medal for our work on the North Arm Fraser Crossing. The medal was presented at the 2011 International Bridge Conference (IBC) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in June. This award is presented to a single, recent outstanding achievement in bridge engineering demonstrating, as appropriate, technical and material innovation, aesthetic merit, harmony with the environment or successful community participation.
The North Arm Fraser Crossing was awarded for an outstanding structure that is also aesthetically and environmental pleasing. The judges comments for our project were “It's a beautiful structure”.
IBC, in conjunction with Bridge Design & Engineering magazine, Roads & Bridges magazine and the Bayer Corporation, annually award five medals to recognize individuals and projects of distinction. These five medals are named in honour of distinguished engineers who have significantly impacted the bridge engineering profession worldwide.
Buckland & Taylor Ltd.'s Andrew Griezic, Scott Roux and Murray Johnson were three of the 1,400 registrants who attended the 2011 IBC.
