156th STREET/HIGHWAY 1 UNDERPASS

Description:

56th Street/Highway 1 Underpass is located in the City of Surrey approximately 3 km (1.9 miles) south-east of the Port Mann Bridge in the area of the intersection of Highway 1 and 156th Street. The Project provides continuity of traffic movement on 156th Street under Highway 1 between Fraser Heights and the City of Surrey south of Highway 1, and includes provisions for: the future widening of 156th Street south of Highway 1; future widening of Highway 1; future construction of HOV ramps; and future signalized intersection at 156th Street and the HOV ramp terminal.

Scope of Work:

Buckland & Taylor Ltd. developed the Design/Build bid design and the final detailed design for the 38 m (125 ft.) long twin bridges. During construction, Buckland & Taylor Ltd. performed field reviews. Completed in 2009.
