32ND AVENUE INTERCHANGE
Location:South Surrey, BC, Canada Description:This overpass structure constructed on Highway 99 carries four lanes of traffic over a new single point interchange with 32nd Avenue in South Surrey. The structure is a 22 m (72 ft.) prestressed concrete box girder span. The girders are seated at the top of MSE abutment walls at both ends. To accommodate curved access ramps at the north abutment, curved reinforced concrete wing walls were incorporated. The structure is designed to be widened to accommodate added future lanes. Owner:Government of British Columbia Client:BA Blacktop Ltd. Scope of Work:Buckland & Taylor Ltd., in association with BA Blacktop Ltd. and McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd., carried out the Design/Build contract for the South Surrey (32nd Avenue) Interchange. Construction was completed in 1999.
