EVANS ROAD CONNECTOR

Description:

The Province of British Columbia and the City of Chilliwack used the Design/Build method of delivery to develop a connection between, and make enhancements to, the existing Evans and Ashwell Roads to improve the north/south transportation network within the City.

Scope of Work:

Buckland & Taylor Ltd., in association with Martens Asphalt (BA Blacktop) and McElhanney Consulting, developed the winning bid design for four short-span, concrete bridge structures. Buckland & Taylor Ltd. provided the final design for the bridges. They are:

• Chilliwack Creek Bridge, a two-30 m (98 ft.) span continuous bridge;

• Chilliwack Creek Diversion Bridge, a 27 m (89 ft.) single span skewed bridge;

• Evans Road Underpass, a two-19 m (62 ft.) span continuous bridge; and

• Evans Road Overpass, a 15 m (48.5 ft.), single span bridge with an extensive deck flare along one edge.

Construction is expected to be completed in 2009.
