JEMSEG RIVER BRIDGE

Jemseg River Bridge

Jemseg, New Brunswick, Canada

Description:

This eleven span bridge has a curved alignment and comprises twin composite plate girder structures each carrying two lanes of traffic. It is the second longest bridge on the new Fredericton-Moncton Design/Build Highway Project.

Total length: 976 m (3200 ft.)
Main span: 140 m (459 ft.)

Client:

Maritime Steel & Foundries Ltd.

Scope of Work:

Buckland & Taylor Ltd. designed the superstructure for this Design/Build project. In addition, Buckland & Taylor Ltd. redesigned and validated the partially constructed substructure, which had been designed by others.

Construction was completed in 2001, 20 months after Buckland & Taylor Ltd. started the design.
