Laveau Creek Aerial Pipeline Crossing

Location:

Near Chase, BC, Canada

Description:

Spanning a ravine, the structure is a suspended gas pipeline with a span of 178 m (584 ft.). The main suspension cable was connected at each end of the span to towers that are 15 m (49 ft.) high. Wind cables create a complex geometry that required careful analysis.

Scope of Work:

Buckland & Taylor Ltd. analyzed the structure to consider the 3 dimensional behaviour of the cables; designed the cables, hardware and towers; prepared construction and as-built drawings; and visited the site to review procedures during critical stages of construction.
