Arrow Lakes/Needles Bridge

Description:

A bridge across the Lower Arrow Lake at the Needles - Fauquier location is being considered. The Project has proceeded to the detailed design phase, after three conceptual design submissions were considered by the BC Ministry of Transportation. Buckland & Taylor Ltd.'s conceptual design was chosen to proceed to detailed design.
The proposed bridge is a twelve span, continuous composite girder bridge.

Total length: 1088 m (3570 ft.)
Main span: 140 m (459 ft.)

Scope of Work:

Buckland & Taylor Ltd. provided preliminary and final detailed design services. The design utilized a composite deck, curved in plan, to take advantage of the Lake bed profile/geotechnical conditions and to effectively resist the lateral loads due to wind. McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. provided the detailed design of the approach roads as well as the design of the overall alignment.
