SAN FRANCISCO AIRPORT EAST LOOP RAIL TRANSIT GUIDEWAY
Location:San Francisco, CA, USA Description:Buckland and Taylor Ltd. performed analysis and design of temporary supports for the four 550’ long steel bathtub girder bridges at the highly congested San Francisco International Airport. The design incorporated multiple load combinations using both AREA and Airport Rail Transit Guideway loads and specifications. Project requirements included minimizing impact on two levels of vehicular traffic below, working around and through existing building and parking structures and minimizing construction stage loads. In addition, Buckland and Taylor Ltd. worked with the contractor and the Airport Rail Transit Authority to determine the most advantageous construction sequence for the erection of the bathtub girder bridges.
