TAKHINI RIVER BRIDGE
Location:Whitehorse, YT, Canada Description:Built in 1968, Takhini River Bridge is a steel pony truss with reinforced concrete deck. Length: 90 m (295 ft.) Owner and Client:Yukon Territorial Government Scope of Work:One of a series of 31 bridges in the Yukon that Buckland & Taylor Ltd. evaluated for carrying increased permit loads. Buckland & Taylor Ltd. then designed and supervised renovation of the bridge. The deck was replaced, while keeping traffic running on at least one lane. Bearings were replaced, some steel was strengthened, and the simply supported stringers were made continuous. Completed in 1993.
