WILLIAM NATCHER BRIDGE
Location:Owensboro, KY to Rockport, IN, USA Description:This composite cable-stayed bridge over the Ohio River carries four lanes of traffic. The towers are A-shaped concrete frames and the girder webs are inclined to match the planes of the cables. Total length: 670 m (2198 ft.)
Owner:Commonwealth of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Client:Traylor Brothers Inc. Scope of Work:Buckland & Taylor Ltd. provided detailed construction engineering and step-by-step analysis of the erection of the towers and the cable supported superstructure for this bridge. The analysis included the effects of cast-in stresses and deformations of the composite deck as well as creep and shrinkage of the deck and towers. The analysis was carried out using custom designed in-house software. Completed in 2002.
